Cinéma et Résistance

This history and film festival consists of screenings and conferences focused on the Resistance movements in Corsica and Italy during WWII.[7] Historically Porto-Vecchio and its hinterland were key zones for the liberation efforts and the memory of these struggles remains strong today. The regional identity is explored through the lens of political courage and the cultural links between islanders and their continental neighbors. Visitors participate in screenings of rare historical footage and engage with experts in contemporary historiography. The social impact fosters a sense of collective memory and educates the younger generation about the island’s modern historical foundations. For political researchers it provides a specialized platform for the study of Mediterranean resistance narratives in cinema. Safeguarding these historical testimonies is the primary mission of this cultural program in the south.
