Raid Oxy’Jeunes Aventure

This adventure sporting event consists of a multi-disciplinary challenge for youth across the wild terrain of the Taravu and Sartinesi valleys.[11] Historically these valleys were the site of rugged pastoral movements and are now protected zones of high ecological and cultural value. The regional identity is promoted through an outdoor competition that emphasizes team spirit respect for nature and knowledge of the territory. Participants experience an intensive weekend of kayaking mountain biking and navigation through ancient stone paths and river beds. The social impact fosters environmental awareness and community pride among the young island residents from rural districts. For researchers it serves as a model for using sports as a tool for ecological education and territory re-appropriation. Preserving the pure and wild legacy of the southern mountains is the core ethos of this youth program.
