If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

Interactive Maps Usage: Our website uses interactive maps provided through open-source technology (Leaflet) and map tiles hosted by CARTO. When viewing these maps, your browser establishes a direct connection to CARTO’s servers to download the geographical images. During this process, your IP address is temporarily transmitted strictly for technical operational reasons. These services do not install advertising tracking cookies on your device.
If you visit our login page, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

We use WP Statistics, a self-hosted analytics plugin, to understand which pages are visited and how visitors reach our site. This plugin records information such as the pages viewed, the referring website, the browser type and an identifier derived from the visitor’s IP address. All of this information is stored in our own database and is never transmitted to any external company or advertising network.

Visitor IP addresses are both anonymised (the final segment is removed) and hashed into a non-reversible identifier before being stored, so no full IP address is ever retained. All of this information is stored in our own database and is never transmitted to any external company, analytics provider or advertising network. We do not use Google Analytics or any third-party tracking service.
Event images
Photographs illustrating events are served from two sources. Most are stored in our own image storage hosted by Cloudflare R2; when your browser displays one of these photographs, it establishes a direct connection to Cloudflare’s servers and your IP address is transmitted for that technical purpose. If our map tile provider is temporarily unavailable, map tiles may instead be served by the OpenStreetMap Foundation, in which case your browser connects to their servers for that purpose.
A small number of photographs are served directly from the website of the tourism organisation that published them. In those cases your browser connects to that organisation’s own server, and their privacy policy applies to that connection.
Directions links
Event pages and map popups include a “Directions” link that opens Google Maps. Nothing is loaded from Google while you browse our site — the connection only happens if you choose to click the link, at which point you leave our website and Google’s own terms and privacy policy apply.
If you leave a comment on our site, you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.
When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.
