Every year in mid-July, Aubigny-sur-Nère celebrates its historical ties with Scotland during the Fêtes Franco-Écossaises. Over three lively days, the town resonates with the sounds of bagpipes, welcomes Scottish clans, and pulses with the rhythms of Pipe Bands from around the globe. The festivities kick off with an opening ceremony on July 10th at the Auld Alliance monument, followed by a free concert from the Breton techno band TEKMAO in the Grands-Jardins. On July 11th, the Grand Tattoo and Massed Bands take center stage downtown, culminating with a concert featuring CELTICA PIPES ROCK and JANE ESPIE’s “The Phantom Piper,” which promises to thrill audiences for a ticket price starting from 20€. The final day, July 12th, features the French Pipe Band Championships in the morning, followed by a grand parade and more Massed Bands. The festivities conclude with a concert from MANAU for another 20€ starting entry fee. This unique event in France not only showcases Scottish culture but also fosters community spirit through music and celebration.
