Michel Thersiquel Photography Exhibition in Douarnenez

A Port-musée retrospective in Douarnenez presents Michel Thersiquel’s black-and-white photographs of daily life on the Ponant islands.

About this event

The exhibition “À terre en mer, les îles de Michel Thersiquel” presents a comprehensive showcase of 65 black-and-white photographs by the well-known Breton photographer. This 200 m² retrospective, supported by the Association des Amis de Michel Thersiquel, captures the essence of island life in the Ponant islands, including Batz, Belle-Île, Sein, Groix, and Ouessant. Many of these photographs have never been publicly displayed before. Thersiquel’s vision sheds light on the ordinary lives of these communities, portraying their daily routines, professions, and environments with a poetic yet realistic lens. His work stands distinct from cliché representations, offering an authentic glimpse into the meeting of tradition and modernity in Brittany. Visit to appreciate this rare opportunity to engage with Thersiquel’s work, illustrating the rich narrative of these islands from the late 20th century. The exhibition runs until 8 November 2026, making it a significant cultural event for both locals and visitors.
