The Espace François-Mitterrand in Guingamp will host an exhibition titled “Exposition Emmanuel Lepage – Peintre Officiel de la Marine,” running from July 1 to August 16, 2026. This exhibition features approximately fifty original works by Emmanuel Lepage, celebrated for capturing the essence of the sea. The opening reception is on June 30 at 6:00 PM. Lepage, the first comic book artist honored with the title of Official Painter of the Navy in 2021, draws inspiration from his experiences aboard the Marion Dufresne and his deep connection to marine narratives. Attendees will have the chance to appreciate never-before-seen pieces that showcase the artist’s journey from comic panels to large illustrations, reflecting how the marine environment shapes his characters and stories. The exhibition will highlight works that depict tropical voyages and the atmosphere of Brittany’s legendary lighthouses, such as Ar-Men. Graphic novels by Lepage include “Danser avec le Vent” and the trilogy featuring Anna, Ullysse, and Jules, demonstrating his artistic evolution and engagement with maritime themes. The exhibition is open to the public from 2:00 PM to 6:30 PM on Wednesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays, and Sundays, and from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM and 2:00 PM to 6:30 PM on Fridays. It will be closed on Mondays and Tuesdays, allowing visitors to fully explore this artistic showcase in Brittany.
