Comme un souffle is a concert-reading for two accordions, given at the Centre Culturel Perenn in Cléguérec. Morgane Simon’s compositions for the diatonic accordion meet Jérémy Simon’s improvisations on the chromatic concert accordion. Between the pieces the duo reads passages from Bauchau, Jaccottet, Schmitt, Blanckaert and Rimbaud. The music is of Breton inspiration, and by the close the small and large bellows are heard as a single breath.

Livre & Mer, salon du livre maritime de Concarneau
The Festival Livre & Mer gathers the authors of the sea at the complexe sportif du Porzou in Concarneau, for its forty-first edition. Novelists, scientists, historians, comic-book authors and sailors meet readers across one large maritime bookshop. Lectures and round tables run beside the stands. Three prizes are handed out, led by the Prix Livre&Mer Henri Quéffelec, and this edition carries the label 400 ans de la marine.
Anatole Le Braz, with Hussön and Lefondeur
An evening given to Anatole Le Braz, his work and his legacy. Xavier Hussön, who illustrated the temporary exhibition shown alongside, sits with the novelist Gérard Lefondeur, who brings the writer back through his investigations. They take in the writer, the collector and the Brittany he described, drawing on archives, contemporary art and the imagination. The Cercle Celtique de Malestroit performs at the close, and admission is free.
La Baie des Livres, salon jeunesse du Pays de Morlaix
The association La Baie des Livres gathers children’s books and illustration at the Roudour hall in Saint-Martin-des-Champs, and its fifteenth edition turns on Gourmandises. An exhibition of Les recettes des contes de fées and another devoted to François Place hang beside the signing stands. Kamishibaï readings, comptines and an Alfajores workshop fill the halls. A Causerie en breton carries the Breton tongue through this Pays de Morlaix fair.
L’Abri des Temps: a village bookshop at Moncontour
L’Abri des Temps is a general bookshop at Moncontour, open for the Semaines du Tourisme Économique et des Savoir-Faire. Its booksellers walk visitors through the premises and the way the shop is run. The stock mixes new and second-hand, with shelves built up in sciences humaines, nature, jardin and paysage, and a choice shaped by rural life, traditions and history. What the hour turns on is how that holds in a village of 800.
Festival du Livre en Bretagne in Carhaix
Most of Brittany’s publishing houses, about a hundred, set up stands alongside close to three hundred authors. The fair is run by the Centre culturel breton Egin, and publishers time their main releases to it, which makes Carhaix the pivot of the Breton literary season. Roundtables and screenings run in French, in Brezhoneg and in Kabyle. The bill includes a roundtable on contemporary Breton literature and a tribute to the musician Soïg Sibéril.
Madame de Sévigné: Places and Memories
Chrystèle BURGARD follows Madame de Sévigné through places she inhabited, visited and inspired. The lecture connects Parisian homes and family residences with journeys to Grignan and Provence. It distinguishes lived places from those later imagined or recreated. The story culminates in the Sévigné myth that helped rescue the ruined château de Grignan.
Albert Londres: The Legacy of Reporting
Maison Albert Londres examines its namesake’s career through his relationships with the press. Successive newspaper collaborations reveal how he developed a distinctive way of reporting the world. The exhibition considers the balance between urgency in the field and responsibility in writing. It also explores his standing among fellow journalists and the lasting place of his name in journalism.
Orchestre d’Harmonie: George Sand in Music
The Orchestre d’Harmonie de la région Centre brings together seventy professional musicians and musicians in professional training. Its concert draws part of its programme from George Sand’s novel Les Maîtres sonneurs. Through the sound of the wind orchestra, listeners encounter a musical portrait of the writer, exploring her imaginative worlds, loves and convictions.
