AMI’s calligraphy workshop introduces the history and practice of handwritten Latin scripts. The models range from Onciale and Foundational to Chancelière and the monks’ gothic Textura. After examining the tools, participants trace letters before making their own cards, poems or stories. Materials are supplied, and each participant keeps the nibs used during the session.
Wheel-Throwing with Maya Micenmacher at La Borne

À la manière de George Sand: a writing cycle
Emma-Joëlle Laflute, a writer, leads a three-part cycle of writing workshops built on the work of George Sand. Each session starts from something of Sand’s own: a sentence, an extract or a short instruction, which participants then carry off in whatever direction they choose. The meetings alternate time spent writing with readings aloud and talk about what has just been written. A single session can be taken instead of the whole cycle.
Transforme ton bâtiment en oeuvre d’art à Vicq-sur-Nahon
The travelling Micro-Folie of the Communauté de Communes Écueillé – Valençay sets up in the salle du conseil at Vicq-sur-Nahon. It belongs to the Journées de l’architecture, on the theme «Réhabiliter, bâtir l’avenir». Children from six upwards and adults draw one collaborative sketch, giving new life to the buildings nearby. Windows are redrawn after Van Gogh, facades after Picasso, figures after Munch, in pencil, paint and recycled materials.
La Bretèche Tileworks: Quarry and Craft Skills
Tilemaking begins with the ground beneath it at La Tuilerie de la Bretèche’s open house. Guided visits take in the working premises and quarry, connecting raw material with the place where it is transformed. Local artisans and a children’s workshop add further ways to encounter practical skills, with the tileworks team and volunteers sharing their knowledge in Ligny-le-Ribault.
White Embroidery: Stitches and Touraine Lace
White embroidery reveals its precision in demonstrations by Sylvie Lezziero. A separate practical workshop introduces either a whitework motif with plumetis, sand and straight cordonnet stitches, or a Touraine motif incorporating Valenciennes lace. The small-group format connects close observation with needlework, making the techniques behind the delicate surface visible and teachable.
