Pardon de la Clarté in Combrit: Pilgrimage Tradition

The Pardon de la Clarté, held every year on the second Sunday in September, takes place at the historic Chapelle Notre-Dame de la Clarté in Saint-Vennec, Combrit. The event begins at 10:30 am with a High Mass, followed by a traditional procession to the revered fountain. This pilgrimage continues local customs and is linked to the Pardon de Kerdévot in Ergué-Gabéric, and previously associated with the Pardon de Notre-Dame d’Izel-Vor. Collectively known as the “Pardon an Teir Vari” (The Pilgrimage of the Three Marys), these events draw many pilgrims who often visit all three shrines in one day. They participate in morning service, High Mass, and Vespers. Among its rich traditions, the Pardon de la Clarté features a fountain known for its healing prayers. It is common to see attendees dip small handkerchiefs into the fountain’s water, reflecting the deep-rooted devotion in the community. This sacred event not only preserves the region’s spiritual heritage but also fosters connections among participants.
