Aimé and Simone Brun’s Provençal Village
Aimé and Simone Brun’s miniature Provençal village brings everyday rural scenes to life. Among its 341 santons, 114 move, including washerwomen, a baker, a potter and an ironworker. A shepherd with sheep and a game of pétanque add to the village setting. Models of Pierrelatte’s Rocher, Tour de l’Horloge and Chapelle des Pénitents connect this detailed craft display with the town’s own historic landmarks.
Haydn and Bruch with the Regional Orchestra
Orchestre national Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes presents a chamber programme pairing Haydn and Bruch. Haydn’s F minor String Quartet from Opus 20 features Harumi Ventalon and Mizuka Ohashi on violin. Bruch’s final composition expands the ensemble to a string octet in B flat major. Four violins, two violas, cello and double bass shape its larger sound.
La marquise s’invite au musée
Isabelle guides a visit in Taulignan devoted to Madame de Sévigné and the relationship between writing and art. The route introduces silk-making history through textile machinery and the skills preserved by the Musée de la soie. Works by eleven contemporary artists accompany the visit, each offering a personal interpretation of the marquise.
Montluçon’s Wartime History Guided Tour
Montluçon Tourisme leads a guided walk about the town’s experience of the Second World War. The route follows traces of the local Resistance and introduces the historical context of the wartime town. Advance booking is required and the visit runs with a minimum of four participants; children under five can attend free of charge.
Buis-les-Baronnies Provençal Market
Olives, cheeses and Baronnies apricots are among the foods sold at Buis-les-Baronnies’ Provençal market. Local producers and food artisans share the stalls, with honey, olive oil, fruit and vegetables changing the shopping basket through the seasons. The market expands in summer, spreading from the arcades into more of the village’s streets and squares.
Rail and Trail: Les Bois de Chamonix
Rail and Trail explores Les Bois, Les Tines and Paradis des Praz through a family nature and heritage quiz. The tourist office designed the activity to introduce the area’s history and traditions. Its route combines village discoveries with woodland and riverside paths. A downloadable Au Fil du Rail booklet supports the exploration, and the activity is free.
The Resistance in Vichy: Guided Tour
The guided tour La Résistance à Vichy examines who joined the Resistance and what motivated them. It considers how the internal Resistance organised and the part it played in liberation and reconstruction. The discussion also addresses its contribution to the Allied victory and the debates that continue to surround this history.
Domaine Nicoleau Mill and Distillery Visit
Domaine Nicoleau opens its olive mill and family distillery to visitors in Bénivay-Ollon by appointment. Olive groves and the extraction of oil form part of the visit. Tastings feature organic olives, olive oil and spirits rooted in the Baronnies. Inside the distillery, a traditional still introduces the inherited skills behind fruit eaux-de-vie, liqueurs and local aperitifs.
Marvellous Middle Ages: Île-Barbe Abbey
Gadagne’s exhibition follows Île-Barbe Abbey through Lyon’s medieval history. Sculptures from the museum’s collection sit alongside archaeological finds, manuscripts and church treasures. The display separates historical discoveries from legends that shaped the island’s reputation. Models and films reconstruct the abbey and its pilgrimage setting, while later reinterpretations connect medieval imagery with contemporary popular culture.
