La cime des algues, also titled L’herbe au Roy, anchors the Beaux Lieux art route in Loches with a monumental work. The project brings B2X, the MAPPES collective and Jonathan Bablon into a meeting of landscape, sculpture and heritage. Other sculptural, culinary and performative elements extend a route conceived as an accessible encounter with art in the open landscape.

Jacques Cœur: Costumed Readings in Bourges
Volunteers from Les Amis de Jacques Cœur take on period dress to tell the story of the Bourges figure and his era. Their theatrical readings unfold beside the Nuits Lumières displays, adding spoken scenes to the visual setting. Costume, performance and historical narrative combine to bring a familiar name in Berry’s heritage into human focus.
Matières à patrimoine: How Centre-Val de Loire Builds
Tuffeau, brick, slate, timber and raw earth shape the architectural story told by Matières à patrimoine. Produced by the region’s Heritage and Inventory Department, the exhibition follows building materials from medieval practice to the present. Flint, metal and cob widen the picture, showing how substances used for both structures and decoration define Centre-Val de Loire’s built landscape.
Parc Coligny: A Guided Heritage Walk
Châtillon-Coligny’s château park opens for an accompanied visit during the Journées du patrimoine. The Comité des fêtes leads the outing through the grounds, presenting the park as part of the town’s historical heritage. Families and children are welcome at this free opening, which offers a guided encounter with the outdoor estate.
Sepmes: Village History and a Wartime Fire Engine
Sepmes’s monuments and former seigneuries provide the thread for a guided walk through the village’s history. The route places its buildings within the older pattern of local estates and authority. An accompanying display introduces a different chapter: an old fire engine that took part in the Normandy landings, linking the village programme with wartime memory.
Bellegarde: Castle History Through Theatre
Theatrical sketches punctuate a wandering visit through Bellegarde’s château and garden. Actors from the troupe guide the programme with the town’s cultural service, alternating performance with historical explanation. The building and its grounds become part of the storytelling, allowing scenes from the past to be encountered through movement and live interpretation.
Costumons-nous: Period Dress at Montrésor
Period dress changes the perspective on a visit to Montrésor’s château during Costumons-nous. Families and friends can try on costumes and pose for photographs before continuing through the castle. The activity evokes a medieval atmosphere, while voluntary contributions help maintain the existing wardrobe and support the making of new costumes.
Villesavin Ceramics Festival: Makers and Clay
Bowls, teapots, sculpture and garden pieces show the range of clay at Villesavin’s ceramics festival. Thirty-eight professional makers from the region and across France present work for exhibition and sale, from restrained forms to richly coloured surfaces. Demonstrations reveal processes behind the finished objects, giving the encounter with contemporary ceramics a practical dimension.
George Sand and Talleyrand: A Missed Encounter
George Sand’s visit to Talleyrand’s estate at Valençay left sharply different written accounts. This lecture compares the Duchesse de Dino’s concise recollection with Sand’s fierce judgement of the prince and admiration for his grounds. Charles Duvernet, who accompanied the novelist, adds a third perspective to an encounter between two celebrated figures of language and ideas.
Claire Linard: Porcelain in Mehun-sur-Yèvre
Fine, luminous porcelain meets rougher stoneware in Claire Linard’s exhibition in Mehun-sur-Yèvre. Descended from generations of potters, she carries inherited skills into functional and decorative pieces with markedly different textures and forms. Wood firing leaves room for unexpected transformations, giving the finished ceramics a tension between technical control and the action of flame.
