Il trionfo del Tempo e del Disinganno, performed at Cour de l’Hôtel-Dieu in Beaune, highlights the early genius of composer Handel. This baroque opera, created in 1707, explores the complexities of time and disillusionment through its selected score. Under the direction of Simon Proust, winner of the 2025 Classical Music Prize for ‘Revelation Conductor’, a featured young cast brings this narrative to life, delving into themes of beauty and wisdom amid life’s fleeting moments. The performance lasts 2 hours and 30 minutes, including an intermission, and will be sung in Italian with French surtitles, ensuring accessibility for a wider audience. The programme is part of Le Banquet céleste’s ongoing homage to Handel’s earlier works, following their previous successful performance of La Resurrezione. This evening presents to not only delight but also provoke thoughtful reflection on the moral themes in Handel’s music.
