The ‘Stabat Mater / Festival international d’opéra baroque’ returns to Beaune, featuring the conductor Emmanuelle Haïm and her ensemble, Le Concert d’Astrée. Celebrating 25 years since the inception of the Concert d’Astrée, the concert presents the featured soprano Julia Lezhneva and countertenor Carlo Vistoli. They will perform Pergolesi’s poignant ‘Stabat Mater’ alongside selected works from the Baroque period that highlight Naples’ role as a cultural center. The programme includes a compelling 1 hour and 50 minutes of music, including pieces by Francesco Durante, Domenico Scarlatti, and Leonardo Leo, each noted for their significant contributions to sacred music. Set against the backdrop of the Basilique Notre-Dame, this concert is a must for classical music and Baroque enthusiasts. Additionally, the programme will be recorded by France Musique for later broadcast, allowing a broader audience to appreciate this performance during the summer months.
