This stage adaptation enters one of George Sand’s country novels through the musical culture that gives Les Maîtres Sonneurs its singular character. The story follows Tiennet, his cousin Brulette and Joseph between Nohant and Saint-Chartier, tracing youth, travel and encounters across rural Berry. Folk music and bagpipes are central because the novel asks how knowledge passes from one musician to another and how different cultural worlds enrich each other.
