On July 10, 2026, wine enthusiasts are invited to the Festival de Bach à Bacchus in Meursault for a tasting featuring ancient wines. Led by wine historian Corinne Glain Fromont, visitors will cover flavors of historical varieties, with a focus on the Gamay grape, which was prominent in Roman times. This tasting event highlights the evolution of wine-making practices, including oxidation and the surprising ingredients used by the wealthy to enhance their beverages. Visitors will also sample medieval wines like hypocras and claret, as well as the sweet ‘wine of the gods’ popular under King Louis XIV, which included local fruit infusions.
