The Messe en si mineur signifies a major cultural milestone in Beaune by presenting Bach’s final masterpiece, completed late in his life. This performance will celebrate the intricate styles Bach mastered throughout his career, reflecting his spiritual route that transcended both Lutheranism and Catholicism. Notably, it’s the first presentation of this monumental work in Beaune in 30 years, featuring the noted ensemble Vox Luminis, recognized for their interpretations of Bach’s music. The performance will last 1 hour and 50 minutes without intermission, taking place in the Basilique Notre-Dame, offering an intimate setting for a rare baroque opera programme. Under the direction of conductor Lionel Meunier, audiences will be treated to a rich auditory blend performed by skilled vocalists and musicians, making this an unmissable event for classical music enthusiasts and culture lovers alike.
