Plumes & Archives Calligraphy Workshop

Plumes & Archives works with the written traces of the Hôtel-Dieu through palaeography and calligraphy. Parchments, administrative registers and historic lettering turn nearly six centuries of hospital history into a hands-on workshop. The session links archival interpretation with the gesture of the pen, making Beaune’s records tactile. Because the workshop is tactile, the archives are not left behind glass. Reading old hands, copying forms and handling the logic of historic scripts lets participants understand Beaune’s hospital records as worked objects as well as sources of memory.
