Chantal Cogne’s exhibition looks at the Indre valley through oil and watercolor landscapes shaped by a precise literary memory. The artist connects these views with the paths where George Sand and Alexandre Manceau once searched for plants for their herbariums. The countryside is never an anonymous romantic backdrop; the paintings return attention to terrain, vegetation and the act of observing. Shown in Gargilesse-Dampierre, the work brings artistic practice into a village closely associated with Sand’s life and imagination. Visitors can follow how color and water mediate between a present-day landscape and the traces of two walkers, writers and collectors. The result is a quiet dialogue between painting, botany and Berry’s cultural geography.
