Drilles and Le Mange Bal

Drilles and Le Mange Bal fuse folk dance, bagpipe traditions and electronic drive in an amplified bal rooted across regional France.

About this event

Drilles and Le Mange Bal approach the traditional dance floor from two complementary directions, joining regional melodies to amplified contemporary energy. Le Mange Bal mixes folk repertory with electronic beats and free-party momentum, drawing on musical traditions from Brittany, Occitanie and Auvergne. Drilles, created by Eris and Azare, is a quintet that connects the sounds of Upper Brittany and Central France with the physical pulse of the bal. The music is designed for dancing, yet its regional sources remain audible through rhythms, melodic turns and instrumental colour. Together, the groups show how inherited forms can move between village practice, concert sound and electronic production without becoming museum pieces. At Lignières, the encounter becomes a lively map of French dance traditions, carried by musicians who treat transmission as an active, evolving practice.
