The Gargilesse summer festival honours George Sand through programmes devoted to friendship and women artists. Pauline Viardot is among the historical figures considered, with Chopin’s music and readings of Sand’s texts included. Classical repertoire meets traditional dance music from central France and Auvergne, alongside kora and Baroque harp in the wider festival.
