George Sand Exhibition in Foëcy: Celebrating Her Legacy

George Sand, 150 ans de modernité is a travelling exhibition created by the George Sand and Black Valley Museum. It revisits a major nineteenth-century figure through the breadth of her literary, artistic and political legacy. The presentation extends beyond the rural novels most closely associated with Berry and restores the many forms of Sand’s public and creative life. The idea of modernity provides a useful thread, linking independence of thought with work that still speaks to readers and civic debate. In Foëcy, the touring format brings museum interpretation beyond its home institution and lets a local audience encounter the writer as a complex cultural force with relevance beyond a fixed regional emblem.
