George Sand Stained-Glass Portrait

This Déols museum workshop begins with the history of stained glass, explaining how it is made, what roles it has served and how images carry meaning through colored light. Participants then translate that knowledge into a portrait of George Sand. The practical work uses a cardboard backing and glued elements to reproduce the visual effect of lead lines, making a complex craft process approachable without pretending to create a full window. Sand’s face provides a locally resonant subject through which composition, color and line can be tested. The balance between explanation and making gives the session substance beyond a decorative activity. By the end, each participant has explored both the language of vitrail and the continuing place of the writer’s image in Berry’s museums and memory.
