marionnettes “D’un rêve à l’autre” – George Sand à l’honneur

A century of traditional puppetry meets Stéphane Antoine Quievreux’s handmade sets in an exhibition honoring George Sand.

About this event

D’un rêve à l’autre unfolds a century of traditional puppetry through figures, stagecraft and scenery in an exhibition presented in honor of George Sand. The display brings inherited puppet practice into conversation with two workshops and a body of sets created by Stéphane Antoine Quievreux across four decades. Marionettes appear here as active performance objects, directing attention toward the hands, mechanisms and miniature worlds that make theatre possible. Visitors can follow the craft from established popular forms to the visual language developed in Quievreux’s own productions. The contrast between older traditions and later scenery reveals how puppetry continually renews its materials while preserving the intimacy of live manipulation. George Sand provides the commemorative frame for a distinctly theatrical exploration of movement, storytelling and handmade illusion.
