Residents of Neuilly-en-Sancerre explore puppetry through a collaborative performance developed with the company Les Buses en vol. The choice of medium has a direct Sand connection: puppet theatre held a special place in the artistic lives of both George and Maurice Sand. Local participants therefore approach regional literary memory through making and performance, moving beyond biography alone. Figures, movement and collective invention translate that family interest into a form the wider community can share. Presented at the village church, the project links popular theatre, amateur creation and professional guidance, showing how an intimate nineteenth-century practice can continue through the hands and imaginations of present-day residents in a rural community setting.
