Pontrieux’s Fête des Lavoirs uses the town’s washhouse heritage as the setting for concerts, parade culture and Breton performance. Manau, Billy Ze Kick and Lads share the programme with Plantec, Owen’s Friends, Ivy Bush, local choirs, pipe bands, bagadoù and Celtic circles. Food stalls and a closing fireworks display support a large public gathering in which contemporary music and the memory of the washerwomen occupy the same streets.
