On July 3, 2026, the conference “George Sand – L’écriture de l’indépendance” will explore the life and influence of the prominent 19th-century novelist George Sand. Led by Pascal-Henri Poiget, this session provides an analysis of Sand’s interactions with publishers, the press, and her creative work, rather than simply a biography. Attendees will engage with selected excerpts from Sand’s correspondence, read by Sophie Tellier, to gain insight into how Sand championed her editorial freedom through conscious choices. The event encourages open dialogue, inviting participants to reflect on the significance of Sand’s experiences and their relevance to contemporary writing.
