Noirlac’s tribute approaches George Sand through several forms, moving beyond a single commemorative address. A visit follows the trace of Prosper Mérimée, whose friendship with the writer opens a window onto her intellectual circle. Gilles Chabenat and fellow musicians then enter the world of Mauprat through a film-concert inspired by Sand’s novel, joining moving image, live sound and literary adaptation. A republican banquet with readings by the Paroles Publiques association extends the program into collective speech and shared table culture. Within the Cistercian abbey, these elements connect correspondence, fiction, cinema and civic ideals without flattening them into biography. The result situates Sand’s work in Berry while showing how her writing continues to move between page, performance and public life.
Hommage à George Sand
