La Chapelle Sand-Flaubert Reading

Puzzle Centre invites adults to write a contemporary letter to George Sand or Gustave Flaubert after entering their vivid correspondence.

About this event

This adult writing session begins with letters exchanged between George Sand and Gustave Flaubert, then asks participants to add a voice of their own. A letter can be composed individually or collectively and addressed to either writer as a contemporary response to their exchange. The striking title, drawn from Sand’s language, establishes a tone in which wit, warmth and verbal invention can coexist. Puzzle Centre guides the process, helping writers consider address, point of view and what deserves an answer across time. Hosted in La Chapelle-Saint-Ursin, the workshop connects a major literary friendship with the practical act of choosing words for a specific recipient. Neither imitation nor academic commentary, the exercise treats reading as the beginning of a new piece of correspondence.
