Les cinq sens pairs a lecture on medieval sensibility with a string-quartet concert. Nathalie Koble explores ways of feeling, listening and perceiving in medieval culture. Quatuor Béla performs Musiques envoûtées, including works by Meredith Monk and Gavin Bryars. The programme draws on Noirlac’s long reverberation, with pieces conceived for resonance and a Bryars work co-commissioned by the abbey.

Wheel-Throwing with Maya Micenmacher at La Borne
Maya Micenmacher, a member of the Association Céramique La Borne, teaches an adult wheel-throwing course. Demonstrations introduce forms before participants practise at the wheel. The work on trimming, handles and spouts follows each participant’s goals. More experienced potters can explore open forms as they refine their technique within La Borne’s continuing pottery practice.
George Sand writing and reading workshop in La Châtre
Writing and reading aloud come together in a workshop led by Cie Un temps in La Châtre. The prompt is “If I were George Sand, I would say…”, asking participants to imagine speaking as the author. The workshop brings participants together for three sessions. A public reading completes the programme, bringing its literary activity before an audience.
George Sand at the Bourges libraries
The Bourges library network marks George Sand through exhibitions, talks, storytelling, screenings and participatory activities. At Médiathèque Leïla Slimani, one of its venues, in the programme, an exhibition with works loaned by the Musée George Sand et de la Vallée Noire explores the writer’s literary, artistic and political legacy. A toue cabanée to a wild island of the Loire
Escapades Ligériennes arms the toue cabanée that casts off from the Port de Combleux and lands its passengers on a wild island. A nature guide names the edible plants growing there, each by taste, property and use. Eric, the pilot, spends the crossing on the history of the marine fluviale and on the fleuve royal seen from its own current. The walk closes with a tasting, and the boat takes twelve people at most.
Artistes amateurs à la bibliothèque Maurice Genevoix
The Bibliothèque Maurice Genevoix in Brinon-sur-Sauldre gives its rooms over to amateur artists from the area. Painting, sculpture and ceramics are shown together, chosen to put local creativity and craft forward. Several distinct artistic worlds follow one another along the way round. Entry is free, and the Office de Tourisme Intercommunal Sauldre et Sologne carries the show among its own dates.
Paris-Berry / Berry-Paris: six artists of the in-between
Six visual artists answer a question George Sand lived out: does shuttling between Paris and the Berry produce a place that is nowhere? Their works run from the old oak of the Maitres sonneurs to journeys by train. Danielle Autissier-Vasseur, BerTrand, Catherine Autissier-Maître, Delphine Dewachter and Elise Blanchard show in the Hall des Bains-Douches at Lignières. Phalène-Arts pluriels presents the exhibition, and admission is free.
Canal de la Sauldre bridge restoration
The Maison de la Forêt hosts an exhibition on restoring the Canal de la Sauldre bridges at Brinon-sur-Sauldre. The display follows work to preserve these local structures. Five bridges have stone walls and brick parapets, weakened by theft and falling masonry. The canal once carried marl to improve Sologne farmland. Its restoration connects the exhibition to the agricultural history of this waterway.
Salon du Livre d’Art et d’Histoire, Cheverny
The Salon du Livre d’Art et d’Histoire in Cheverny brings authors, historians and publishers together around writing about the past. Visitors encounter books and authors through talks and activities for children and adults. The salon is supported through Les saisons culturelles ligériennes de Marcilly-en-Gault, linking this literary gathering to Loir-et-Cher’s cultural life.
Conférence : La grande histoire du luxe à Châteauroux
Jérôme Descoux, a curator at the Archives départementales de l’Indre, unfolds the story that made Châteauroux and the land around it a country of luxury. Savoir-faire and innovation are the threads he follows, drawn from the departmental records he looks after. The talk is given at Le Comptoir Local, the Châteauroux Berry Tourisme counter in the town centre. Entry is by prior booking, within a run of autumn visits and talks in the town.
