La vie de château at La Bretonnière frames the visit around the fortified domestic world of the Galaure countryside. The route centres on the pre-Renaissance octagonal tower, Flamboyant Gothic details and the spiral stair held inside its stone volume. A basket-handle doorway and an erased coat of arms bring the Revolution into the architecture, turning masonry, lineage and political rupture into visible clues.
